Georgie in heaven
My Grandfather, Georgie, In Heaven.
You know when you get those nasty calls saying get on the flight tonight? Well that happened to me! My Mother and I flew down to Sydney on a Friday night because my Grandfather was in hospital extremely sick and there was a chance of him dying.
When he was sick and in hospital, I fed him and comforted him and every time before I left I always hugged him in case his time was up. It was the last night of the week, Friday, and I was having a sleepover with my cousin. My Mum came to pick me up in the morning and it was then that I heard the bad news... Mum said “Saara, Georgie passed away last night” :(
The funeral was held on Wednesday, at a church called Saint Luke’s. Mum was amazed how many people were at the funeral. There were over 200 people! Before we went into the church my Grandmother put a white rose on the coffin and I lay it down next to Georgie’s Pilots hat. Some of Georgie’s friends read out some things for him, and them my Grandmother and I sang Danny Boy. Mum and my Aunt wrote tributes to Georgie and read them out. Close to the end of the funeral my Aunt organized a big white screen to come in and they played a video of Georgie singing Some Enchanted Evening to my Grandmother for their anniversary last year.
To me, Georgie’s death is not real. The other day I was just walking around my Grandmother’s house and I walked past the billiard table and remembered the times when he taught me billiards, and I read my books on the sofa where he used to nap every day.
Georgie is still alive because you can never really die.
